Known Donor Services
A known sperm donor is a friend, a family member or someone who voluntarily donates his sperm for use in assisted reproductive procedures. This individual has been personally selected by the couple or the single woman, and is not sexually intimate with the ultimate recipient of the sperm. Known sperm donors are screened similarly to anonymous donors before they can be accepted in our program. This is done expressly for your safety and is mandated by various regulatory agencies. Candidates must complete a thorough medical history questionnaire; undergo physical examination, semen analysis, infectious disease and genetic screening (donor screening) prior to donating sperm. Semen samples are frozen in our laboratory and quarantined for six months at which time the infectious disease screening is repeated. If all tests are negative, the specimens will be released from quarantine to be used by the recipient.
